Weekly Update 18 (March 16)

Well hello Sunday my old friend. I can’t believe another week has passed again. I’ve been so busy I can’t even remember what day it is half the time! But next week I have a few days off work, and I’m hoping that I can actually get back to writing. Chapter five still needs to be started, and it’s been almost three weeks since I’ve even opened Scrivener. Though I have decided to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo this April, even though my word count goal will only be 10K. I’d love to have some cabin buddies that I actually know – let me know if you want to swap usernames and bunk together!

So you know that till-April book ban I was on? Well it officially starts… now. Because I blew it this week xD



Throne of Glass finally showed up in the mail, and I’ve already read it and fallen in love! I’m halfway through Crown of Midnight right now, but as it’s Saturday and I have an entire day to myself I’m thinking by the time this posts I’ll have finished it and moved onto The Assassin’s Blade. Days of Blood and Starlight was an unplanned buy, but I wanted a Starbucks and the closest one just so happened to be inside the Barnes and Noble… and, well, I have zero capability to walk into a bookstore and buy nothing. But I was good and limited myself to a paperback, instead of going after the hardback of Divergent I was lusting over!

After I finish the Throne of Glass books, I plan on finishing an ARC that I’ve been dragging my feet on, and then I’m going to start the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. I’ve put it off long enough, and after so many of you have yelled at me to read it, I’m finally doing it! Plus, that means I’ll be able to join you all when Dreams of Gods and Monsters is released in April!

In other news… In my efforts to get back in shape (hint: there are not enough expletives in the world to express my feelings over this), I started the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels. MY. THIGHS. Every time I sit or stand is PAIN. I thought I was out of shape before, but now I’m realizing that maybe I was a bit healthier than I remembered back in high school. Maybe a lot healthier. That whole freshman 15 thing? I have a theory that when you shove 4 years of college into 1.75, it turns into a freshman 30. So now my diet consists of protein shakes (which I cheat on and put peanut butter in because PB makes everything better) and salads (I got smart and bought all the stuff to make my own Chipotle-type bowls at home), and I’ve cut fast food and most breads. I miss In N Out. But now when I eat it, my hands and feet swell up because I’m not used to the sodium content anymore D: THE TRAUMA

One last thing: how do you all like the new blog theme? I needed a change from the galaxy thing, plus I felt like messing around with pic monkey. This nautical thing is a bit crisper – I’m in love!

  1. Girl, I can totally relate about the weight stuff. I was never a skinny-minny, but I was in decent shape in high school and played soccer, and was pretty active during my freshman year of college, using the gym and walking around and stuff…but I’ve gained so much weight from being disabled — it seriously sucks.

    With only being able to do the very bare minimum when it comes to regular activity (I can just barely stand a trip to the grocery store, and that’s with taking pain pills), I’d seriously have to starve myself to do anything more than just maintain my current weight. I try to be healthy and eat lots of veggies, but sometimes it just gets so discouraging knowing how much work it would take to ever lose weight. I guess I’m just hoping that I’ll be fixed sooner rather than later, and as soon as that happens, I will be back at the whole “exercising” thing super hard.

    Trust me…I would kill to be able to go to the gym again or take a walk around the neighborhood. So do me a favor and shred your little butt off so that I can live through you 🙂 Just be like — hey, at least I’m not holed up in bed, in pain, like Miranda, haha. I always think that, hopefully, maybe SOME good can come out of my situation, if I can even just a little bit inspire other people to not take advantage of their good health, and be thankful for the working legs and feet that they’ve been blessed with.

    But I know that it’s hard either way…I’m not trying to discredit that. Losing weight is hard for ANYBODY, whether you’re disabled or healthy. But I have tons of faith in you 🙂 And that Jillian Michaels stuff sounds killer, so I know you’ll be back in great shape soon!

    • I’m not disabled (and even though my legs hurt every time I sit down I’m very glad to have them) but I recently discovered that I have adrenal and possibly thyroid issues. That’s why I’m on those pills. So I can understand in a way how it feels to have your body fighting against you no matter what you do! Losing two pounds is such a victory, because with all my hormone levels being off, my body holds onto every ounce it gains!

      And of course I’ll shred for you 😉 I’m hoping to lose 30-40 pounds in the next few months, and my ultimate goal is to lose 60 (but we’ll see about that…) You are totally welcome to kick my butt into gear if I start slacking off!
