Top Ten Authors I Own the Most Books From

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. Check out their blog here!

Today’s TTT topic is: Ten Authors I Own The Most Books From. So I actually did something really similar a few weeks ago, but those were authors that I won the most books from that are also on my auto-buy list. So this list is very different from my last list! I also counted duplicates, as for some authors I have an extra copy (or more) of their books.

1. JK Rowling – 18 books. This includes my first set of Harry Potter, with the first three books being the UK editions (I started reading HP when I was on vacation in London – isn’t that cool??) and the last four being US editions. I also have an extra hardback copy of Order of the Phoenix in addition to my original paperback. Aaaannd then I have the 15th anniversary box set with all the pretty artwork, so there’s another seven. And to round it all out, I have Quidditch Through the Ages, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and Tales of Beedle the Bard. Why yes, I am quite the fanatic.

My Queen

2. Richelle Mead – 11 books. The whole Vampire Academy series, as well as the first four books in Bloodlines. And actually I just remembered that I have Gameboard of the Gods as well! Technically, I have 12 of her books, since I have an extra copy of Vampire Academy that I’m holding for Veronica.

She is just too pretty – it’s not fair!

3. Cassandra Clare – 10 books. This isn’t really a surprise, with her series being so big. I have the six books of The Mortal Instruments, the three from The Infernal Devices, and the Shadowhunter’s Codex.

4. CS Lewis – 10 books. All seven books of The Chronicles of Narnia, and then I have The Screwtape Letters (totally changed my life, and I’ll be teaching it for the third time this fall in my General Literature class), The Weight of Glory, and a collection book that includes Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, The Abolition of Man, The Great Divorce, The Problem of Pain, Miracles, and A Grief Observed. So I guess if you want to get technical I have sixteen books from Lewis. Woohoo!

5. JRR Tolkien – 7 books. The Lord of the Rings (3 books), but I really want a different set. Mine are the old movie covers – I’m currently lusting over the simplistic ones with the black covers. I also have The Hobbit, the first two books in the Lost Tales, and the Silmarillion.

6. Jeff Stone – 7 books. This is a childhood author of mine; he wrote The Five Ancestors series. I’m pretty sure I’ve read all of the books at least four times.

7. Orson Scott Card – 7 books. It’s kind of a smattering of his books that I have: Ender’s Game (paperback and Kindle version), Speaker for the Dead, Ender’s Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, Ender in Exile, and Earth Afire. I used to have others, but I’m not sure where they went actually.

8. Rick Riordan – 5 books. PERCY JACKSON!!! I seriously need a reread of this series before the last Heroes of Olympus book is released – that way I can binge on those five books right after. My body is so ready for this. One of these days I should get the Kane Chronicles as well, I suppose.

9. Donita K. Paul – 5 books. The lady that kindled my love for dragons and all things mythology. Seriously – this series makes me so happy. I was shipping characters before I even knew what shipping was.

10. Christopher Paolini – 4 books. I actually have a lot of authors that I have four books from, but I picked Paolini since he’s not on these lists often. His four books are the Inheritance Cycle. I still haven’t finished book four, and I’d need a reread of the entire series to remember what’s happening. BUT! Eragon has been read probably ten times over at least – it’s another of my older dragon books.

That’s my list for this week – link me yours below!

  1. Love it!!! Gee, I don’t know who I would put on my list 😉 I know who number 1 would be, but other than that, I would have to think, Cassandra Clare would be up there, due to the fact her series are so big, Maggie Stiefvater, Melissa Marr, JK Rowling and Kiersten White would all probably be contenders as well.
But then there are duplicates…. oh, wow, this is could get messy!
    Great post!!!

    • Oh I just don’t know at all I mean it’s SO difficult to figure that out… 😉 C. Clare isn’t even an author I would say YES MY FAVORITE, but she just has so many books that I also happen to enjoy reading that she makes it to a lot of these lists, haha.

I think if I didn’t have duplicates this would be a different list for sure 😛

  2. I wish I own physical copies of Harry Potter! I only own the Kindle ones because when I was binge-reading it, I couldn’t get to a bookstore for a week, and I was desperate already so I bought all the Kindle editions… LOL FAIL. In any case, I think the author with the most books I own would be James Patterson. I was crazy over his mystery thrillers back in High School, and I would salvage ALL the book sales for his books. I don’t really know much anymore after that, because on my shelf are one or two from debut authors that I’ve established a relationship with in my /almost/ 2 years of blogging. Haha.

    • Well, that’s completely understandable! There is no “waiting” for the next HP book, unless by force due to pub dates. Oh god I cried so much waiting for 5-7.

I actually haven’t read a lot of Patterson; just the first three books in the Maximum Ride series.

That’s what I’m finding a lot lately, since I started blogging. I have the debut novels from a lot of authors, and they’d be on this list if they just would publish more xD

  3. Great list Kayla! I love that J.K Rowling is on so many lists this week. I keep intending to start The Mortal Instruments series, but I’m yet to do so!

  4. I so wish I owned the full Harry Potter set. *deep sigh* I own like 2, and they didn’t get on my list…although my list is like almost completely comprised of books with TWO as the full collection. I AM A HOPELESS BOOK COLLECTOR. It’s a sad and lonely fact, really. My biggest collection is 13 Lemony Snicket books + 5 audios (but that doesn’t really count as 18, does it?). x)
    My TTT!

  5. I’ve got Rowling on my list as well — all of the HP books plus her adult books. Donita Paul sounds great, I haven’t heard of her. I love that you included photos of the authors.

  6. Great list! I got my LOTR set right before the first movie came out and made sure that it was the non-movie covers (though I do own a second copy of ROTK that has one of the movie covers). Now I’m eyeing a hardback copy since it’s my favourite book ever ❤

    • I’m trying to convince myself that it would be okay to buy another set, since I’m teaching the series this year in my lit classes and OF COURSE I need new books, but I just can’t bring myself to do it quite yet. Some day I’ll get a gorgeous set that I can show off 😉

  7. I do have a lot of C.S. Lewis… too lazy to go count them all but it is The Chronicles of Narnia plus a few more. My goal is to get ALL THE C.S. LEWIS!

  8. It’s sooo weird seeing what authors look like in real life … !! Look at Christopher Paolini’s adorable little face!
