Hello there! I’m Kayla, and you’ve just entered… the twilight zone. Not really, but it sounded good, right? Anyway, welcome to my blog! I started out as a movie blog, but when that habit became too expensive and time consuming (the nearest theater is half an hour drive), I switched mostly to books (also an expensive habit, but we’re just going to ignore that bit). You’ll also find a few random posts here and there, usually about writing or something I’ve observed. On the rare occasion, you’ll be assaulted with full on weirdness, which you are welcome to skip. It usually means I didn’t have anything else to talk about so I ended up rambling about something.
I’m a teacher of high school literature, and I’m dipping my toes into the pond of math classes as well. In the 2013-2014 school year I’ll be teaching American, World, and General Literature, as well as Algebra II. When I’m not teaching, I’m a part-time chiropractic assistant. In my spare time, I dedicate my hours to reading, watching tv/movies, fangirling, tumblring, and most importantly – writing. My ultimate goal is to publish my novels: I focus on fantasy or science fiction, usually set in the future.
I started this blog because if I’m spending the money on all these movie tickets and books, then I might as well talk to someone about them, right? That’s where you come in. I’m always open to meeting new people, whether it’s over cyber space or two feet from each other at Starbucks. I love to debate, to analyze, and really get into the nitty-gritty of themes and plots and life application, but I also think that there’s a time to sit back and simply enjoy the product of human imagination, regardless of its originality and execution. Sometimes I might get snarky, or act weird, but I hope that’s all right. If not, that’s okay too, because this is my little corner of the internet, and it makes me happy.
